Hi, my name’s Abi and I’m a photographer specialising in maternity photography at Baby Art Studios in Manchester. I am also in my final year at the University of Huddersfield studying photography.
I am passionate about photographing mothers to ensure they look confident, feminine and powerful, while always focusing on elegance.
I have years of experience working in a studio and have developed all the skills necessary to create stunning photographs of this special time in your life. While three years at university and one year working in industry have helped me develop a high level of technical skill, I’ve also had the chance to widen my understanding of how mothers are represented in popular culture. Not only has this helped me refine my aesthetic, but also given me valuable insight into the relationship between mothers and their image and the issues that surround this. You can have confidence you are in great hands.

Q&A
What should I expect during the photoshoot?
The photoshoot usually lasts around one hour which we can take at your pace and have breaks if we need to. We normally do 2-3 outfit changes with a few different background and lighting styles, so you have variety in your gallery. The style of the photoshoot is whatever you feel comfortable with; this could be a casual everyday look or a sexy dress style. You might not feel sexy right now but I promise you you’ll look good in everything we have at the studio- so best to be open to ideas!
This is my first photoshoot; how do I pose?
I understand that for some people this is their first time at a photoshoot and photography studio so it can be daunting; but don’t worry I’ve got your back. Relax and let me do the work!
What should I bring?
Some mothers like to bring memorabilia to include in the photos including scan photos and baby’s first teddy however this is not essential, bring whatever you’d like! We have loads of dresses at the studio so don’t worry about bringing too much. We normally ask you to bring different coloured sets of underwear including a black, white and strapless set. But don’t go out and buy anything- we can work with what you have!
Who can join in the photoshoot?
Anyone!!!
Family members, friends and even pets are welcome at the studio.
