Headshot Photography for Fundraising

As all my blog followers should know by now, I’m in my final year of uni studying photography and for our final exhibition we need to fundraise money for things such as prints and exhibition catalogues. I offered my services to the fundraising team to photograph headshots for paying customers as I already had the skills to work with clients in a studio. After successfully taking 10 clients’ photos, I suggested the team offer retouching as an extra add on as I understand light headshot touch-ups. The fundraising team hadn’t thought of this idea and my contribution gave a bonus amount to the fundraising pot! Only two clients did not want the editing.

During the photoshoot it was important to communicate between the team as I needed to know how many photographs the client had paid for and if they would like retouching or not. Laura Watson and I did this perfectly and the photoshoots ran smoothly!

Also during the photoshoots I was able to control the lighting as I had studio lighting skills already. I Illuminated the background with two lights to create the bright white backdrop. In order to best illuminate the model, I placed a light onto the top of their face and a reflector to brighten under the chin.

To get good customer satisfaction, I allowed the client to choose their own images and for those who wanted retouching, I explained how I’d do it and then asked whether they had any areas they’d like me to focus on.

Overall the day went very well and I was able to work on studio skills, posing techniques and team working skills.
